Vicarious liability

Vicarious liability is where an employer is held responsible for something done by an employee in the course of their employment. Under the Equality Act 2010,  discriminatory acts done by an employee in the course of employment are treated as having been done by the employer. The employer will not be liable for discrimination if they can prove that they took such steps as were reasonably practicable to prevent the employee from doing the discriminatory act. See News Post - Employers have no vicarious liability for the vindictive actions of their employees.
