Bad Job Reference Letter Before Claim
Use this template letter before claim where your employer has given you an inaccurate, false and/or misleading job reference. It helps you negotiate a new reference. It also puts your ex-employer on notice of legal proceedings and a potential claim in damages for breach of duty and negligent misstatement.

References are a standard requirement for job applicants and a bad or inaccurate job reference can end your career or get you blacklisted in your industry. A job reference is used by your prospective employer to check that you are who you say you are, and that you have the competencies that you say you have. Your current employer does not have to provide a reference (except in particular industries), but where they do the reference must be accurate, fair and not misleading.
