What is victimisation?

Section 27 of the Equality Act 2010 (EqA) protects you from retaliation if you complain about discrimination or are involved in someone else’s discrimination claim.   That retaliation is called victimisation  and it is unlawful.   Victimisation is when your employer subjects you to less favourable treatment which causes you a disadvantage at work (detriment) because you made a complaint under the Equality Act. Making a complaint under the Equality Act is a “protected act”. The protection applies where;
